The Labubu are making boomers' imaginations soar

However, a theory has emerged online suggesting that the origins of these figures are not as "cute" or innocent as previously thought.

According to the hypothesis, the Labubus would be a representation of a demon from ancient Mesopotamia, called Pazuzu , and it even made us remember when they said that the Tamagotchi was from the devil.

Pazuzu, for the Sumerians/Mesopotamians, was the king of the wind demons, personified as a storm that caused disasters. Interestingly, he also protected against plagues and other evil forces, so he was used as an amulet to ward off other evil entities. A multifunctional demon, then.

This deity was depicted with the body of a man, a deformed head, eagle wings, lion teeth and claws, and a scorpion tail. His eyes were round and sunken, he had a canine jaw, prominent teeth, and protruding ears. In other words, he was very similar to the Labubus .

As an additional fact, Pazuzu is the demon identified as the one who possesses Regan MacNeil in the film The Exorcist , hence why they are now "linking" these dolls with what happens in the film.

Who would have thought? You thought they were just ugly, and it turns out they also summon things.
